Mixed Berry and Orange Smoothie

When I was in Park City last month, I was lucky enough to stay with my first blogging friend, Kelly, from Mountain Mama Cooks. Not only is Kelley a blogger, but she has had her own private chef business in Park City for many years. The first day I was there, we went to work out. Afterwards, she made the best Mixed Berry and Orange Smoothie, which I tried to recreate when I got home. She used almond milk instead of juice in hers, and it was fabulous. I didn’t have any on hand, so I used pomegranate juice. This smoothie recipe is so refreshing after a workout or makes a great breakfast if you add Greek yogurt or protein powder.

Citrus at Its Best: Orange Ricotta Pancakes

This weekend, I am so excited to be speaking at  Food Blog South, a conference and workshop in Birmingham, Alabama on Recipe Development along with the talented Virginia Willis. It’s going to be wonderful weekend filled with bloggers, writers, photographers and so many others from around the country. Proceeds from the conference go to support a charity to restore the Gulf, and also support The Desert Island Supply Company, a Woodlawn-based writing center for kids. Recently, I was working on a recipe development project for a client creating recipes made with citrus fruits. I loved how these Orange Ricotta Pancakes turned out: so light and fluffy with the perfect hint of orange flavor. This makes a great breakfast idea for this weekend since oranges are at their peak. Enjoy and have a great weekend!

Easy Holiday Appetizer: Cranberry-Orange Glazed Brie

While cranberries are still at their peak, why not prepare a simple sauce to serve with your holiday turkey or to serve over Brie. This festive appetizer recipe for Cranberry-Orange Glazed Brie is perfect served this holiday season at an open house on Christmas Eve or for a New Years Day celebration. Served with crackers and some toasted bread, preparation is a snap. If you have leftovers, just give to neighbors or friends for a last minute gift.

Summer Drinks for Kids and Adults: Orange Margaritas (with and without alcohol)

Okay, so occasionally I splurge and post a recipe that’s not the healthiest, but it’s the weekend, right? Here is a recipe for Orange Margaritas that’s great. I have to credit this beverage to Kay, who makes the best cocktails. We love going swimming at her fabulous pool, and she even makes non-alcocholic versions for the kids. This is a great summertime drink that’s perfect when you want something really easy but special and delicious.

Fresh and Delicious Easy Sangria

IMG_2227

Sangria is so refreshing this time of the year, and this recipe is so easy to make. Enjoy both versions of an alcoholic and nonalcoholic Sangria and serve with any of your favorite fruits. I also love to put frozen red grapes on top instead of ice cubes. I am teaching a Paella class on October 15th, and I will be trying various sangria recipes to go with it. See my media page for more information.
