I have a lot of of television cooking segments coming up next month in Birmingham and Nashville. One of which is making “lower” fat desserts. Everyone wants ideas for great, easy desserts to take to a party, and if they are reduced-fat, even better. I like to use a combination of dark and semisweet chocolate and all egg whites in these Dark and Semisweet Chocolate Brownies. Feel free to make them with or without nuts but just remember: keep a glass of cold milk (or red wine) nearby.
I have been out of touch this week looking at some of the beauty like you see here, but I’m on the way back and would love to announce the winner of the “Martha Stewart Dinner at Home” cookbook. The winner is Kathryn who said, “This website was suggested to me just in time. I was nearly a total loss as a cook! Tight on time, weird ingredients and one too many noses turn up at my latest attempt to appease three kids frustrated us all. I have a busy week ahead shooting 4 shows next week for NBC 13 “Daytime Alabama”, a cooking class next week at Birmingham Bake and Cook and TV in Nashville in early December. Not to mention, Thanksgiving at my house. Glad I had a few days of rest.
I try to make new snack mixes for my kids, especially around holidays. I made this one up the other day, and my kids said it looked like Halloween. Feel free to add any of your favorite nuts or dried fruits. Beware though, once you starting eating it, you can’t stop.
