One of the best parts being a food blogger is when some of my favorite media writes about me, and it’s just out of the blue. Yesterday, a very famous food blog, “The Kitchn” listed their favorite top 10 Brittle and Bark recipes. I made it on the list in great company with Martha Stewart, Bon Appetit, Epicurious and many others. Check out the post http://www.thekitchn.com/thekitchn/break-off-a-piece-barks-and-brittles-101614
This recipe ran last year during my first month of my blog. It’s 3 ingredients and fabulous. I will be making it on television next month in Birmingham NBC 13 “Daytime Alabama” and NewsChannel 4 CBS “Talk of the Town” in Nashville, Tennessee.
Since I’m teaching a cooking class next week -“Gifts from the Kitchen”, I thought I would share with you my recipe for Maple-Chipotle Spiced Nuts. There’s no oil or butter in this recipe. Just egg whites, some of my favorite seasonings and nuts. I love Priesters Pecans, especially this time of year. This makes a great Christmas gift but is wonderful anytime. For more information on my class, see Birmingham Bake and Cook. I am also taping a “Gifts from the Kitchen” television segment Tuesday for NBC 13 Daytime Alabama and will let you know when it’s going to air.
I have been out of touch this week looking at some of the beauty like you see here, but I’m on the way back and would love to announce the winner of the “Martha Stewart Dinner at Home” cookbook. The winner is Kathryn who said, “This website was suggested to me just in time. I was nearly a total loss as a cook! Tight on time, weird ingredients and one too many noses turn up at my latest attempt to appease three kids frustrated us all. Alas, we began with the ribs and are happily eating our way through your blog. We’re in!” Thanks to all of you who participated as I loved hearing your comments. I have a busy week ahead shooting 4 shows next week for NBC 13 “Daytime Alabama”, a cooking class next week at Birmingham Bake and Cook and TV in Nashville in early December. Not to mention, Thanksgiving at my house. Glad I had a few days of rest.
Today, I am in Madison Wisconsin for a Wisconsin Cheese Media tour. I get to tour about 8 different cheesemakers around the area while tasting fabulous cheeses, attending a Fondue lunch as well as an award winning Cheese and Beer Pairing reception. I thought I would feature a simple cheese appetizer that my family loves in honor of the amazing Wisconsin Cheese. It’s so easy and wonderful for this time of year or as the holidays near (Halloween, Thanksgiving or Christmas), and my kids love it!
Also, I will also be featured on NBC 13 Daytime Alabama at 11:30 a.m on Thursday cooking a simple Slider recipes so check it out. I know-busy week.
This recipe for Moo Shu Chicken has been a hit ever since I posted it a few months ago. I will be preparing it Thursday, October 1st on NBC 13 “Daytime Alabama” at 11:30 a.m. Tune in and try this low carb awesome dish.
We have been on a huge milkshake kick at my house lately. Every night we take our favorite flavor ice cream and blend it up with skim milk, a touch of chocolate syrup and our favorite topping. I made this for NBC 13 Daytime Alabama coming up to air September, but Brooke Smith called me after the shoot and made these milkshakes that night.
This recipe is my son, Alec’s favorite. It will be featured on NBC 13 Daytime Alabama next month, but I thought I would share the recipe with you now. It’s really simple and tastes fabulous with or without tequila. I am in the process of making some new adjustments to my site so my posts might be few and far between for the next few weeks. It’s also my kid’s last week out of school so I want to spend all the time with them that I can. Please be patient with me during this transition and thanks for all of your support for my blog.
