I received an ice cream maker for one of my wedding presents, and the kids and I are obsessed with it! My husband’s mom makes homemade ice cream for every holiday, so I had to step up my non ice cream making abilities and learn the craft. This Oreo Ice Cream recipe is one of my first creations. This recipe is so easy with only 10 minutes of preparation time, and it can be made several days in advance. Substitute your favorite chocolate chip cookie or candy bars for the Oreos if you wish. Oreo Ice Cream
15 minutes plus 45 minutes for ice cream maker
6 to 8 servings
1 cup granulated sugar
2 cups whole milk
11/3 cups half-and-half
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
7 Oreo cookies, chopped
1. In a large bowl beat eggs until light colored. Gradually add sugar, beating well until mixture thickens slightly. Add milk, half-and-half, vanilla and salt, beating well. Stir in Oreo Cookies.
2. Freeze in an ice cream maker according to ice cream maker instructions. Transfer to an airtight container and freeze until firm enough to scoop at least 2 hours.
