Fitness Friday: Toughest Workout DVD of 2012

What is the toughest workout DVD out there? Insanity Workout is a 60-day home-based workout video program designed by the company Beach Body, which also produces other popular workout DVDs such as P90X. Insanity is possibly the most difficult, cardiovascular-based DVD workout program on the market today, due to its strenuous pace. It is a total body, circuit training workout that uses only your body weight as resistance. The plan involves a schedule of six days of exercise per week, and each workout will take approximately 30 to 60 minutes to complete. All that is required to perform each INSANITY workout is a TV, DVD player, a good pair of tennis shoes, and sheer willpower. I am dying to try this!

  1. I’m so glad you posted this! I love Insanity and I’m always an advocate for getting new people to try it! I started doing Insanity about a year ago and it is the hardest and most satisfying workout routine I have ever done. I didn’t wind up sticking to the schedule because I rarely am able to find time to exercise that intensely six days a week so instead I would do Insanity about 3-4 times a week and would find some other way to exercise the other days (usually jogging or pilates). It is the best workout you could ever get in such a short time period (to be DRENCHED in sweat and exhausted after 30 minutes is amazing for me). I recently bought Zumba and am disappointed with how slow it seems compared to Insanity. I think my workout routine will never be the same…but that’s a good thing for sure!! 😀

  2. Hey Alison, My hubby and I have been doing the insanity workouts for the last two weeks. I can attest that it is HARD. We have the P90X workouts as well, but Insanity is harder because the rests are so short. At the moment it is kicking my (pretty fit) butt. I’ll let you know what a think about it after a few more weeks. 😉

  3. Insanity is probably my absolute favorite workout DVD. Shaun T is my favorite fitness coach; I’m currently doing his Rockin’ Body DVDs, which are also really awesome – you don’t even feel like you’re working out! But yeah, Insanity is intense but does wonders for endurance and strength!
