Conquer Resolutions this January at Copper Mountain: Travel Tuesday

I am headed to Aspen Colorado this weekend, and I can’t wait! If you want to fulfill your New Year’s resolution to be more active on the slopes in the new year, check out these amazing events at Copper Mountain.

Learn to Ski and Ride Month, Jan 1 – 31, 2014
 Copper Mountain offers affordable options for never-evers and beginner skiers and riders to turn any New Year’s resolution into reality this January. All season long, beginners can access and learn for free on the Easy Rider carpet located in Center Village. Once basic skills are learned, a ticket for the Pitchfork chairlift is only $15, allowing beginners to master getting on and off the lift while perfecting turning and stopping. Copper Ski and Ride School features Youth Four Packs with flexible dates and the option to use lessons for either Ski and Ride School group lessons or Woodward at Copper freestyle lessons. For an introductory experience for adults ages 16+, Copper Ski and Ride School offers adult group lessons for those who have never skied or ridden before.

Safety Fest, Jan. 18 – 20, 2014
 January is National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) Safety Awareness Month; Copper Mountain celebrates with its annual award-winning Safety Fest Celebration, Jan 18 – 20. During Copper’s Safety Fest, Burning Stones Plaza, located in Center Village, turns into Safety Village with tents featuring National Ski Patrol signing up guests for mountain sweeps, Summit County Rescue Group offering backcountry awareness and beacon training, Copper Mountain Ski Patrol Avalanche Dogs demonstrating how dogs are trained and many more. Visit all Safety Village vendors to be entered in a daily raffle; prizes include helmets, lift tickets, season passes and more.

WinterBike, Jan. 18 – 19, 2014  
Winner of NSAA’s Most Creative Event in 2012, annual WinterBike returns to Copper Mountain on January 18 – 19, as part of the 2014 Leadville Winter Mountain Bike Race Series. The little ones kick off the excitement with LittleBike starting at 5 p.m., a short race around Burning Stones Plaza for the kids. WinterBike racers pedal out of Burning Stones Plaza at 6 p.m. and greeted with fireworks at the finish line in Burning Stones Plaza at 7:30 p.m. For more information, including registration, please visit www.coppercolorado.com.

Where to go for Christmas Vacation

It’s December 11th. I know. Almost Christmas…BUT, people are still asking me where to go for Christmas vacation. I can’t believe it!  I have a wonderful idea. How about Aspen? I have recently stumbled upon this: The St. Regis Aspen Resort is celebrating the season with commemorative feasts, family-friendly fun, and a new menu of seasonal Family Traditions experiences.

Check out these Holiday Events:

The week of Thanksgiving, The St. Regis Aspen unveiled a gingerbread replica of the hotel. This stunning piece, made 100 lbs. of gingerbread dough, and 50 lbs. of flour, over the course of 250 hours, is on display in the lobby during the festive season. Super cool!

Christmas Day brunch is offered at Trecento Quindici Decano, featuring chef attended carving and culinary stations. Children enjoy a special appearance by Santa from 12pm-5pm.

 

Holiday Activities Include: 

December 15, 2013—March 31, 2014: S’mores cookouts in the courtyard, available nightly from 7pm to 8pm exclusively for children; adults can enjoy s’mores from 9pm to 12am in Shadow Mountain Lounge.

 December 20: Carriage ride with Santa Claus will depart from The St. Regis from 2:40-5pm.

December 21: Holiday ornament decorating 3pm to 5pm in the Aspen Room.

December 22: Holiday stocking decorating from 3pm to 5pm in the Aspen Room.

December 23: Gingerbread House decorating with The St. Regis Pastry Chef in the Aspen Room from 3pm-5pm.

December 24: A special reading of the classic “’Twas the Night Before Christmas” by Santa Claus, followed by holiday photographs with Santa in the library from 3pm to 5pm.

December 26: Gingerbread cookie decorating in the Aspen Room from 4pm to 6pm.

December 27: Join Elk Mountain Rescue Dogs and Mountain Rescue Aspen volunteers and learn how these talented individuals are saving lives through backcountry rescue in the library from 5:30-7:30.
