5 Non Alcoholic Holiday Beverages

With holidays just almost upon us, it’s time to come up with some great non alcoholic drink ideas for you and your guests to enjoy when Thanksgiving or Christmas day rolls around.  These are lower in calories and fat and great for kids too! There are loads of cocktails that taste great without alcohol in them, including virgin Marys, virgin coladas and virgin caipirinhas. Try adding a touch of fresh ginger, fresh herbs, fresh fruit, or a squeeze of lime to give your cocktails a little bit of an extra Christmas kick. Here are 5 non alcoholic holiday beverage ideas:

1. Try natural soft drinks

Natural soft drinks like the Zeo soft drink are an easy and delicious alternative to alcoholic drinks. The Zeo drinks range comes in a wide variety of flavors and as they’re naturally flavoured and low in sugar are perfect for enjoying before or after your Christmas feast.

2. Fresh fruit or juices

If you’ve got a juicer at home, this is the perfect opportunity to crack it out and create some delicious festive delights. Adding a touch of cinnamon and a dash of orange will help to make your juices smell and taste fantastic and will add a great aroma and color. Add fresh fruit to enhance the beverage. See my recipe for Blueberry Spritzer here.

 3. Alcohol free sparkling wine

There are some great alcohol free sparkling wines on the market now, many of which taste just as good as the traditionally made ones.

4. Hot apple juice or apple cider

Add fresh chopped apples to some good quality apple juice or apple cider along with fresh ginger and cinnamon and heat it gently on the stove and you’ll end up with a delicious warming brew that is perfect for cold wintry evenings.

5. Use green tea

Prepare warm or cold green tea and mix with honey, lemon and fresh herbs for a warm and healthy delight.

Non Alcoholic Mojito: Kid Friendly

Spring is here and what sounds better than a mojito or a Non Alcoholic Mojito? While my daughter, Leigh and I were in Phoenix, we had the most fabulous meal at Deseo located inside the Westin Kierland Resort and Spa. Behind Deseo’s inventive concept and menu development is James Beard Award-winning Chef Douglas Rodriguez, widely-regarded as the inventor of Nuevo Latino Cuisine. Leigh had never had Latin Cuisine, and she was a little skeptical at first. We sat at the ceviche bar and watch the chefs create the most beautiful and wonderful plates one after the other. The service and the food is one of the best meals we had while in Phoenix. If you are in Phoenix or Scottsdale, it is a must dine. The staff insisted that Leigh try a Non Alcoholic Mojito which was filled with raspberries and fresh sugar cane. As soon as we got home, we tried to recreate this refreshing beverage. So here you go!
