Three Ingredients: Blueberry-Banana Ice

Sometimes simple is better, and recipes with only three ingredients actually can be as flavorful as if they had nine. This Blueberry-Banana Ice is one of those recipes that is almost too basic (and good) to be true just in time for July 17th “National Ice Cream Day.” Purchase ripe bananas and in season blueberries and freeze them (I used zip-top plastic bags). Remove and toss in the food processor or blender with a touch of honey, and you’re done. Feel free to experiment with other berries if you wish. This is the perfect healthy dessert for summertime, and it truly hits the spot.

Oreo Cupcakes

Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone! This is my last dessert for a while, but I wanted to share this recipe for Oreo Cupcakes which has been lightened up. The cupcake part of the recipe comes from Cooking Light magazine. In their recipe, they sprinkled the cupcakes with powdered sugar, and they are great. I love extra chocolate flavor so I slathered mine with chocolate frosting and of course, an Oreo. If you don’t have time to make your own frosting, you can substitute the store-bought icing. The total calories per serving for the cupcake is 150 calories, 5 grams of fat and 24 carbohydrates. Enjoy and have a fun and wonderful Valentines!

Welcome to Updated Ingredients, Inc. and Strawberry Parfaits

Welcome to the launch of the updated look of Ingredients, Inc. I started my blog on October 25, 2008, so 5 months later, here I am. I want to to thank all of my ¬†supportive loyal fans and subscribers, and I hope you as well as new friends will like this new look as much as I do. Take a moment to look at the “shop” button where I have listed a few of my favorite items. I will be attending the International Housewares show this weekend in Chicago to add new unique items to the store.

In the meantime, I thought I would feature a new favorite recipe I developed using marscarpone cheese. This recipe is so easy to prepare, and it’s as delectable as it looks. I have made these several times, and kids and adults are wowed. It’s the perfect springtime light dessert so let me know what you think. Best, Alison
