Nonalcoholic Bananas Foster: Kid Friendly

Bananas Foster is one of my favorite desserts, and I was so impressed with my daughter, Leigh, told me she came up with a nonalcoholic version (perfect for kids). She used maple syrup instead of alcohol and created her own Nonalcoholic Bananas Foster which was fabulous! With only 7 ingredients and 15 minutes, you can make homemade kid-friendly Bananas Foster too! Thank you my precious and very creative daughter, Leigh!

7 Creative Nutella Recipes

Everyone in our family is obsessed with Nutella. I find so many super creative Nutella recipes, so I decided to share 7 creative nutella recipes. Nutella, or chocolate-hazlenut spread, was created by Mr. Pietro Ferrero, a pastry maker and founder of the Ferrero company. During this time in World War II, cocoa was in short supply, so he decided to incorporate hazelnuts in the mixture to extend the taste of the chocolate. Little did he know what success would come from this priceless product. Enjoy these 7 Creative Nutella recipes below. I don’t know about you, but I want to try all of them. S’mores Ice Cream Pie

My kids and I have been making a lot of S’mores this summer. I  had the idea of a S’more’s Ice Cream Pie, and I quickly put this recipe together. I used fudge ripple ice cream, but feel free to use any flavor of your favorite ice cream. You could also sprinkle the top with chocolate shavings, but kids were in such a hurry to eat it, I didn’t even have the time. Oh, well, here’s to summer 2012!

Acai Pomegranate Smoothie and Blendtec Blender Giveaway

I hope everyone has had a great holiday weekend. Did you go shopping? I am so excited about sharing my recipe for Acai Pomegranate Smoothie (my kid’s favorite). It tastes great, and it’s full of vitamins and antioxidants. Now, I can’t wait to announce my Blendtec Blender giveaway: One lucky winner will receive the Total Blender Combo including the Fourside and Wildside Jar, a $474 value. This blender is my newest all-time favorite all-in-one kitchen appliance. Not only does it make the best smoothies, but I have used it to prepare dips, fondues, ice cream, salad dressings, sauces, soups, milkshakes and even bread dough.

My kids have been making smoothies and milkshakes daily, and I feel great letting them try different fruits and yogurts to create new concoctions. Whether you’re in college, single or have a family, using a Blendtec is a great way to stay healthy this time of year. The winner will be able to choose a white, red or black model, and this is one of the best holiday presents ever.

Three Ingredients: Blueberry-Banana Ice

Sometimes simple is better, and recipes with only three ingredients actually can be as flavorful as if they had nine. This Blueberry-Banana Ice is one of those recipes that is almost too basic (and good) to be true just in time for July 17th “National Ice Cream Day.” Purchase ripe bananas and in season blueberries and freeze them (I used zip-top plastic bags). Remove and toss in the food processor or blender with a touch of honey, and you’re done. Feel free to experiment with other berries if you wish. This is the perfect healthy dessert for summertime, and it truly hits the spot.

Homemade Ice Cream Sandwiches

For Fourth of July weekend, I wanted to share my recipe for Homemade Ice Cream Sandwiches from my new cookbook “400 Best Sandwich Recipes: From Classics & Burgers to Wraps & Condiments”. I came up with this recipe last summer while I was working on this book. My three kids were in the kitchen helping me, so I tried to make it as simple as possible. It is perfect to serve this weekend if you are celebrating with friends and family, or anytime this summer. Use your favorite homemade chocolate recipe or store-bought cookie dough.

Weekly Food Review Day: All About Ice Cream

Buy the book

My friend, Amy, is a longtime great friend. She was my very first blog fan and is always making great suggestions and tossing around ideas for me to consider. She recently suggested I designate a certain day of the week as “review day”, which I had been thinking about doing as well. Since she’s a huge ice cream lover, I thought I would start here. I love this cookbook “Perfect Scoop” by David Lebovitz. It has so many great recipes for ice cream, granitas, sorbets, sauces, toppings and “mixins”. One of my favorite healthier recipes in the book is Strawberry Granita. You don’t need an ice cream maker for this recipe, but if you’re looking for a new ice cream maker, check out the one below by Deni. I have it in hot pink and neon green, and it works as cool as it looks. Check out the links below for more information.
