Immune Boosting Smoothie Shots

These Immune Boosting Smoothie Shots are a fabulous way to kick off the week. In only five minutes and a quick few sips, you will get a healthy serving of immune boosting raw fruit and vegetables. Place all of the ingredients in a blender and process until smooth. If you want the mixture colder or thicker add ice and for added protein, add protein powder. Adding half of an avocado also adds thickness and more vitamins.

I love making these for my family for a simple way to get vitamins and minerals naturally. Kale is frequently called “the queen of greens” and “a nutritional powerhouse.” Kale is high in Vitamin C, which is helpful to keep your immune system strong. Kale is high Vitamin A is great for your vision and your skin. Just one cup of kale contains 206% of our daily vitamin A requirement. Kale is also high in calcium, iron and K, so it’s an all-around winning vegetable.

These Immune Boosting Smoothie Shots also contain blueberries, which are also two fantastic ingredients to help keep your immune system strong. Blueberries have been linked to so many health benefits. One cup of blueberries has four essential nutrients, including fiber, vitamin C, vitamin K and manganese.

Get your pineapple fix while you also boost your immune system. Did you know that pineapple has more vitamin C than an orange? You can also get your fix of Vitamins A, B6, E, and K, Calcium, Folate, Iron and Zinc by consuming pineapple. Some studies show the vitamins and minerals in pineapple can help shorten viral and bacterial infections and also help strengthen your bones. I’m ready to make another batch. Stay health everyone and have a great week!

Immune Booster Smoothie

Happy Monday! I have a new smoothie recipe for you. I have been making this Immune Booster Smoothie every week since the quarantine began. Since I posted a photo of it a few weeks ago on social media, several of you have asked for the recipe. Find my recipe for Immune Booster Smoothie below, but feel free to add or subtract to it and make it your own with ingredients you have in your kitchen.

  1. You can substitute pineapple juice, coconut water or milk for the orange juice.
  2. Add your favorite protein powder or collagen powder if you like. This brand is my favorite.
  3. If you are looking for frozen chopped mango, check the frozen fruit section of most grocery stores. I have seen fresh mango lately in some stores too.
  4. If you use a frozen banana in place of the ripe banana, omit the ice.
  5. Add a stalk of celery or 1/2 an avocado or both.

Watermelon Kale Smoothie

Watermelon Kale Smoothie

Watermelon and Kale are two superfoods that (believe it or not) my three kids love! Last week we went out walking in our fun Alabama 97 degree heat, and I made this Watermelon Kale Smoothie topped with chia seeds and fresh watermelon and OMG it was so good! I know, I know. It looks weird at first. Trust me on this one. You just have to try it! For 152 calories and 3.6 grams of protein, this recipe also is very high in vitamin C and manganese as well as potassium, Vitamin A and B6! For health benefits of watermelon click here. Honeydew Cucumber Green Smoothie

If you like green smoothies, you love this one! Last weekend, I had the amazing opportunity to visit Barnsley Resort in Georgia. I recommend it for so many reasons! Enter the 19th-century Downing-style village that features cottages with porch swings or rocking chairs, amazing golf course, hiking, canoeing, horseback riding, clay shooting, pool, spa tennis, and so much more. Be spoiled by supreme Southern service, incredible farm-to-table dining, breathtaking grounds and something unexpected at every turn. Barnsley’s new Chef, Adam Hayes, is one you’ll definitely want to keep your eye own. His palate and passion is contagious (and he’s a cutie too). I had this Honeydew Cucumber Smoothie one morning for breakfast, and it was fabulous! I didn’t get the recipe, but I know it had honeydew, cucumber, and spinach. SO here’s my variation. Feel free to add whey protein powder if you like! Enjoy and happy July 4th week!

Spinach Mango Protein Shooters

My 3 kids and I have been really into smoothies lately, and yes, they honestly do drink “green” variations. I made these Spinach Mango Protein Shooters for breakfast, and they were quite the hit!  I ended up making this again after a tough “Insanity” workout yesterday, and it was an amazing pick-me-up. It’s perfect filled with spinach, mango and a protein boost from Greek yogurt. I love using frozen mango and don’t forget: Frozen fruits and vegetables are just as healthy as fresh. They are actually picked at their peak and flash-frozen (see more on this at Easy Home Meals). I used my newest kitchen equipment addition for this recipe: The Nutribullet, which makes it so easy to make a smoothie for one (or for small amounts). Enjoy!

Spinach Pineapple Smoothie

I love green smoothies! Last week after I worked out at Lifetime Fitness, I noticed that the drink of the day was a “Spinach Pineapple Smoothie”. Their version had pineapple, pineapple juice, spinach and ice. I tweeted about it, and so many people responded that it sounded so good. I went straight home to create my own version of Spinach Pineapple Smoothie to share with you so you would have measurements. This smoothie tasted great, and even my kids loved it. Try it with kale too. It’s fabulous!
