Banana Granola Smoothie

My favorite new smoothie recipe is this very simple Banana Granola Smoothie. For breakfast or an afternoon snack, this smoothie will satisfy you and the kids. My son, Zachary, started football practice this week. Can you believe it? Where is summer going? I have been making him this Banana Granola Smoothie before his rigorous practices, and he loves it! This will also be on our list for a back to school breakfast recipe. Feel free to add protein powder and 1 (6-ounce) container of nonfat Greek yogurt. If your bananas are not quite ripe yet, add 2 teaspoons of honey. I this smoothie recipe with only 4 ingredients, and I use Kind Granola which is gluten-free, high in fiber and omega-3 fatty acids.  I got this smoothie idea from my friends at Lifetime Fitness where I enjoy a healthy smoothie after my own workouts. Try it, you’ll love it!

10 Gluten-Free Breakfast Recipes

Most of you know that my life has been upside down the past month or so, moving and getting settled. I appreciate all of the emails, messages, and tweets from all of you during my tough time. Carolyn, a gluten free maven and blogger from All Day I Dream About Food asked me if she could put together a “guest post” on gluten-free breakfast recipes to help me out with my workload during this busy time. I am so thankful and honored to share these 10 gluten free breakfast recipes that she has put together below. Take it Away Carolyn..

Whether you gluten-free by choice or by necessity, breakfast can be one of the toughest meals of the day.  Many breakfast foods like toast, cereal and pancakes are traditionally made with wheat flour and so are off-limits.  And sometimes the gluten-free versions are so full of sugar, they aren’t much healthier!  But I’ve rounded up some great gluten-free breakfast ideas that are healthy, easy to make, and low in sugar.  These will keep you full until lunchtime and you won’t miss the wheat one little bit! Gluten Free: Grain-Free Granola

One of my food weaknesses is definitely granola so I thought I would develop a recipe for a Grain-Free Granola for all of those who can’t have grains, are gluten-free, are following the Paleo Diet or are watching their carbohydrate intake. This recipe for Grain-Free Granola is super easy to make, and it’s full of my favorite seeds and nuts. Feel free to use whatever you have on hand as all of the nuts and seeds are easily interchangeable. This granola makes a great breakfast idea stirred into nonfat Greek Yogurt or with almond milk. It also makes a great afternoon snack, a healthy sweet to put in your children’s lunch, or a wonderful dinnertime dessert served with fruit.
