As the weather cools down, what a better way to warm up then with a healthy soup that helps you lose those extra pounds at the same time. The curry in this Spicy Carrot Soup may raise your temperature, but the soup itself is light enough to satisfy your hunger without weighing you down. It is filling too, and even my three kids loved it! The soup is flavored with curry (so it’s not too spicy for kids). Curry powder has many health benefits such as cancer prevention, alzheimer’s disease prevention, heart health, bone health and more. Thank you to ZLiving for allowing me to share this recipe! It is our new fall favorite soup recipe
I received a slow cooker for Christmas, and I still have not used it yet. My friend said it would only make my life easier so since school was starting, I thought it’s time to take it out of the box and give it a try. My publisher, Robert Rose, recently came out with this new cookbook Easy Everyday Slow Cooker Recipes by Donna Marie-Pye so I started here. I made this Mu Shu for Two recipe, but I doubled it so have enough for me and my three kids. They loved it, and I will definitely be making it again! There are 200 recipes in this book, and all of them have been created with convenience in mind (I need this so badly). Donna offers great slow cooker tips in her book. Here are just a few that helped me a lot!
1. Prepare what you can ahead of time.
2. Choose less tender cuts of meats and trim off the fat.
3. Brown meat and vegetables first.
4. Don’t overdo the liquid.
5. Use whole herbs and spices.
Start the new year off right with this Kale Ginger Juice. I have been trying to keep my kids healthy so to keep their immune systems in tact, I am sharing this recipe for Kale Ginger Juice which is loaded with super foods to help ward off the flu and seasonal colds. Raw kale is one of the best sources of vitamin C, important for protection against immune system deficiency. Each 100 gram serving of raw kale includes about 120 mg of vitamin C, well over the recommended dietary amounts for men (90 mg) and women (75 mg). It is also filled with tons of health benefits as you can read from my post on MindBodyGreen. Ginger also has various health benefits such as boosting bone health, strengthening the immune system, preventing various types of cancer, aiding in digestion and more. This juice is a nutritional powerhouse, and yes, my kids really do drink it! 🙂 Thanks to Omega juicers for making this recipe great!
