Game Day Sugar Cookie Recipe

Game Day Sugar Cookies

Tailgate season is here, and my daughter, Leigh and I decided to make some Game Day Sugar Cookie Recipe yesterday in time for the Alabama, Auburn and the Oregon game. I admit it. She did 99.9% of the work, and these came out great! This recipe is super easy. You can make this sugar cookie dough the night before. Just remove from the refrigerator, take the chill of while you preheat the oven and roll and cut them out the next day. Leigh also took this photo on my camera so I have to give her all the credit. These are perfect for all tailgating and football parties whether you’re watching the game or headed to your own children’s sporting event. Enjoy and have a wonderful week ahead! Thank you Leigh! 🙂

BCS Football Championship Recipe: Spinach Dip with Greek Yogurt

Roll Tide! I can’t believe an Alabama team is (once again) in the BCS National Championship. You have no idea what it’s like to live in this crazy, passion-filled football state (Alabama and Auburn) where red jeans and houndstooth are at a premium. I have had many, many requests, phone calls and emails for appetizer recipes. Since everyone is trying to get their new years off right, I thought I would share this Spinach Dip with Greek Yogurt recipe which I recently made this on television for NBC 13 “Daytime Alabama”. It’s so easy, and it’s always a hit. It is perfect for any party, Superbowl, or weekend starter with the family. Here are a few other favorites appetizers ideas including  Chicken Chipotle Dip

 Rosemary-Chipotle Spiced Nuts

Lightened Up Mexican Layer Dip

My kids love shrimp, especially my oldest son, Alec. I can’t go wrong making shrimp at my house, and when it’s on a skewer, it’s even that much better. This recipe is so easy with the combination of lemon juice, Cajun seasoning, garlic and fresh parsley. It’s so flavorful perfect for football parties, Thanksgiving or Christmas appetizers or any weeknight main dish.

Reduced-Fat Desserts for Parties: Dark and Semisweet Chocolate Brownies

I have a lot of of television cooking segments coming up next month in Birmingham and Nashville. One of which is making “lower” fat desserts. Everyone wants ideas for great, easy desserts to take to a party, and if they are reduced-fat, even better. I like to use a combination of dark and semisweet chocolate and all egg whites in these Dark and Semisweet Chocolate Brownies. Feel free to make them with or without nuts but just remember: keep a glass of cold milk (or red wine) nearby.
