Palisade Peach Festival Travel Tuesday

Last week I was lucky enough to explore the beautiful city of Palisade, Colorado where Colorado wineries are fruitful, agriculture tourism is high, and where my son and I had some of the the best peaches we have ever tried! Where ever you go, out in the orchards and wineries or in and around Palisade, you hear about the buzz about the 2014 Palisade Peach Festival. The festival starts this week on August 14 thru the 17th.  All over the Valley and beyond, beginners and seasoned cooks are busy figuring out their Peach Recipe Contest entry.  Everyone is salivating over the sample sales after the contest. Local chefs are busy creating their dishes to present at the Peach cuisine with Colorado chefs.  Peach jams, jellies, cobblers, pies and vendor peach specials are being prepared.

The Festival down at Riverbend Park Friday and Saturday joins all the activities going on all over town with the Peach Parade, Recipe Contest, Peach Pancake Breakfast and restaurant peach specials. Where ever you go in and around Palisade… peaches rule!

Learn to Ski and Ride Month, Jan 1 – 31, 2014
 Copper Mountain offers affordable options for never-evers and beginner skiers and riders to turn any New Year’s resolution into reality this January. All season long, beginners can access and learn for free on the Easy Rider carpet located in Center Village. Once basic skills are learned, a ticket for the Pitchfork chairlift is only $15, allowing beginners to master getting on and off the lift while perfecting turning and stopping. Copper Ski and Ride School features Youth Four Packs with flexible dates and the option to use lessons for either Ski and Ride School group lessons or Woodward at Copper freestyle lessons. For an introductory experience for adults ages 16+, Copper Ski and Ride School offers adult group lessons for those who have never skied or ridden before.

Safety Fest, Jan. 18 – 20, 2014
 January is National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) Safety Awareness Month; Copper Mountain celebrates with its annual award-winning Safety Fest Celebration, Jan 18 – 20. During Copper’s Safety Fest, Burning Stones Plaza, located in Center Village, turns into Safety Village with tents featuring National Ski Patrol signing up guests for mountain sweeps, Summit County Rescue Group offering backcountry awareness and beacon training, Copper Mountain Ski Patrol Avalanche Dogs demonstrating how dogs are trained and many more. Winner of NSAA’s Most Creative Event in 2012, annual WinterBike returns to Copper Mountain on January 18 – 19, as part of the 2014 Leadville Winter Mountain Bike Race Series. The little ones kick off the excitement with LittleBike starting at 5 p.m., a short race around Burning Stones Plaza for the kids. It’s December 11th. I know. Almost Christmas…BUT, people are still asking me where to go for Christmas vacation. I can’t believe it!  I have a wonderful idea. How about Aspen? Wine and Culinary Tennis Camp

When I heard about the The 5th Annual Wine & Culinary Tennis Camp at the Broadmoor in Colorado, I had to share. A tennis camp with wine and cooking? It sounds amazing!
