Back to School Sandwich: Lunch Box Sushi & Cookbook Giveaway

My three kids start back to school in a little over a week so I’ve been trying to get back into the groove. I try to be really creative when it comes to school lunch for two out of my three children who insist on taking their own lunch. This year, I have more than enough ideas since the release of my new cookbook, “400 Best Sandwiches: From Classics & Burgers to Wraps & Condiments”. One of our favorite recipes from the “Lunchbox” chapter is this recipe for Lunch Box Sushi. It’s really easy, healthy, fresh and kids love it. Feel free to substitute cooked chicken for the shrimp. In honor of the popular demand for sandwiches and back to school, I am giving away one copy of my new sandwich cookbook.

Turkey Burgers Featuring Belle Chevre Goat Cheese

I am so excited about sharing this favorite Burger recipe: Turkey Burgers with Belle Chevre, a recipe by Chef Marvin Woods, Emmy Award Winner Nominee, Cookbook Author, and one of the first chefs to join the “Obama’s Let’s Move Campaign”. He has teamed up with Belle Chevre Creamery to create a new E-Cookbook filled with fabulous summer recipes. I am honored that Belle Chevre has featured me on their blog this week. These Turkey Burgers are so easy to prepare, and my kids loved them too. Using Vidalia onion and panko breadcrumbs adds wonderful flavor and crunch. Enjoy these this summer on the grill or anytime of the year using a grill pan. Sliced Belle Chevre Artisan Goat Cheese makes these a winner.

Brie-Mushroom Burgers

For Memorial Day weekend, I want to share one of my favorite burgers: Brie-Mushroom Burger. The first time I made this, my kids were a little leery of the Brie and mushrooms. When they tried it, they were hooked. This is a great way to get your children to eat mushrooms and try new ingredients. If you’re grilling this weekend for adults, you will definitely enjoy this burger with a cold beer (or glass of red wine). Happy Memorial Day everyone!

My New Cookbook “400 Best Sandwich Recipes from Classics & Burgers to Wraps & Condiments”

When my cookbook Publisher, Robert Rose Books, said that my book will be here on “March 29th,” they meant it. It arrived exactly on that date, and I am so excited to announce the release of “400 Best Sandwich Recipes from Classics & Burgers to Wraps and Condiments”. This is the go-to book on sandwiches with something for everyone. It includes 400 recipes. Yes, I really said, “400”! You will enjoy sandwich recipes for every meal and occasion including appetizers, breakfast, lunch as well as burgers, wraps, international, regional U.S, grilled cheese, condiments and more. I call it the “bible” of sandwiches, and it’s been well received so far. When I spoke at a conference a few months ago, I realized that I have been developing recipes professionally for over 17 years (wow, now that shows my age), so I am so excited about my first internationally published cookbook.
