Layered smoothies take extra time, but they are so worth it! My family has been working out a ton this weekend (tennis tournament, hiking, swimming, running and golf) so we decided to make these Layered Berry Smoothie just in time for the Memorial Day holiday. The best way to make these, so the flavors don’t run into each other is to prepare each flavor at a time, and put each flavor in the freezer until ready to layer.
These layered smoothies are so healthy with fresh strawberries, blueberries and bananas. They are also easy to prepare, taste fresh, are filling and are good for you. Feel free to use your favorite milk, and if you can’t have dairy, feel free to substitute coconut water.
2/3 skim, soy or almond milk, divided
2 bananas, divided
11/2 cups blueberries
1 cup sliced strawberries
1/2 cup fresh raspberries
1 (6-ounce) container vanilla Greek yogurt
1 teaspoon honey
Blueberries, strawberries, coconut
1. In blender, combine 1/3 cup milk, 1/2 banana and blueberries. Secure lid and blend (from low to high if using a variable-speed blender) until smooth. Pour into a glass and place in the freezer.
2. Clean blender, then combine the remaining milk, remaining 1/2 banana, strawberries and raspberries. Secure and blend (from low to high if using a variable-speed blender) until smooth.
3. Clean blender again, then combine 1/4 cup milk, yogurt, honey and remaining whole banana. Secure and blend (from low to high if using a variable-speed blender) until smooth.
4. Carefully pour strawberry layer on top of blueberry layer and then top with banana layer. Top with any of the suggested toppings, as desired.
