Turnberry in Scotland: More than Just Golfer’s Paradise- Travel Tuesday

Breathtaking Turnberry Resort in Scotland, most often known as an icon of Scottish hospitality and home of four Open Championships, has been treasured for more than a hundred years. This historic hotel has been reborn as part of Starwood’s acclaimed Luxury Collection portfolio following a multi-million pound renovation. It is much more than a golfer’s paradise.

Turnberry offers spectacular scenery, two championship golf courses, the Ailsa and the Kintyre, the nine hole Arran beginners course and the acclaimed Colin Montgomerie Links Golf Academy. This five-star resort also boasts fine Scottish cuisine, a wide range of outdoor activities and an award-winning spa.

THE SPA AT TURNBERRY: Featuring an inviting 20-metre indoor pool, eleven individual treatment rooms, fitness studio, heat experiences, pool-side Jacuzzi, children’s pool and offering a range of treatments by ESPA including reflexology and hot stone massage, the Spa at Turnberry is the perfect place to relax and reinvigorate.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITY CENTRE: This area would be ideal playground for my two boys as it offers rifle target shooting, clay target shooting, 4×4 off-road driving, trout fishing, archery, quad biking, falconry, horse riding, carriage driving, all-terrain carting, mountain biking and children’s activities.

OTHER FACILITIES & ACTIVITIES: And right after my heart, Turnberry also has jogging trails. Also, one must check out the Culzean 12-hole pitch and putt course and a snooker table, whilst powerboating and coastal cruises are available nearby. For children, there is a woodland walk, kite flying, pony rides, the little Turnberry farmer (feed horses, calves and sheep with the Turnberry farmer and his sheepdog Merc), and Buddy for a Day childminding with outdoor activities – while parents relax, children can enjoy a variety of activities, including horse riding and grass karting, with an experienced guide and approved child minder. Something for everyone.

CUISINE: Turnberry has six restaurants, bars and lounges – the signature restaurant 1906, the relaxed Duel in the Sun bar, The Ailsa Bar & Lounge, James Miller Room and The Grand Tea Lounge, inspired by the hotel’s original tea lounge in the Edwardian era. In the heart of the Turnberry kitchens is the ultimate dining experience, The Turnberry Chefs Table. For golfers, Turnberry also boasts the Tappie Toorie restaurant, which is situated in the Clubhouse. All are overseen by the resort’s Executive Chef Justin Galea.

I want to go! How about you?
