Okay, so this post is attributed to my daughter, Leigh, and her friend, Ellen. She spent the night with Ellen a few weeks ago and made these awesome Rice Krispy Easter Eggs. They were googling a fun Easter project, and they found this great idea from Family Fun magazine. She called me and said, “Mom, you must come take a picture of this to post on your blog.” At first, I was like, “Huh?” When I arrived at Ellen’s house, I realized how right Leigh was. These are adorable, fun and a great Easter treat idea for kids. As you notice from my picture, Ellen didn’t have any Easter colored M & M’s, but any colors will do. Happy Easter!
Rice Krispy Easter Eggs
12 plastic snap-apart 3 x 2-in Easter eggs
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 (10 ounce) package regular marshmallows or 4 cups miniature marshmallows
6 cups Rice Krispies® cereal
1/2 cup M & M Easter (or regular) colored chocolate candies
1. Clean, then coat inside of plastic eggs with cooking spray. Set aside. In large saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat. Add Rice Krispies® cereal. Stir until well coated.
2. Using greased hands, firmly press 1/4 cup of Rice Krispies® mixture into both halves of each plastic egg. Use fingers to make hollow center in each half. Remove from molds. Place on wax paper. Cool slightly.
3. Place about 6 M & M candies in one half of each egg. Gently press two halves of each egg together until they stick. Cool completely.
